Academic Curriculum

We follow the National Curriculum, in which children study the core subjects of: English, Maths and Science. They also learn through the foundation subjects of: Art, Computing, Design Technology, Geography, History, Languages, Music and Physical Education. We follow the East Sussex Syllabus for Religious Education.

Our curriculum is based on the knowledge and skills set out in the programmes of study in the National Curriculum 2014. This provides children with an introduction to the essential knowledge that they require to be prepared for life in modern Britain.

However, the National Curriculum is just one element of every child’s education. There is time and space in the school day to extend beyond the National Curriculum specifications. The National Curriculum provides an outline of core knowledge around which teachers at Chantry can develop exciting and stimulating lessons to promote the development of children’s knowledge, understanding and skills as part of the wider school curriculum.
